Journeyman Progressive Tool & Die Maker W/ High Speed Stamping - 1st shift

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper is searching for experienced and dedicated individuals to join our Tool Room Team in a high volume precision metal forming/stamping plant.

 

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build new, repairs, rebuilds and/or overhauls all types of production progressive dies/injection molds and service equipment. Read blue prints to build quality components within tolerances of one thousandths of an inch. Checks and inspects die for wear and maintenance issues. Evaluates problems and implements immediate solutions to reduce problem recurrence.
  • Set up and operate all types of tool-room equipment and tools, considering the various types of materials, tolerances, cutting tools, coolants and machine tool’s feeds/speeds.
  • This position works with extremely close tolerances and grinds all types of special tools to blue print & die specifications. Use of micrometers, calipers, optical comparator and/or VIM visual inspection machine & CMM coordinate measuring machine.
  • Traces tool difficulties to their source and corrects them. Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Develop root cause to production issues, preventative maintenance thru continuous improvement.
  • Will help develop our apprentices in our Tool & Die Program.
  • Must possess a high degree of attention and care, toward work.

The ideal person for this position has the following minimal requirements:

  • The successful candidate must have knowledge of and ability to use shop mathematics, tools & hold a Journeyman’s certificate with 5 years of experience or 10 years’ experience without a certificate.
  • A Mandatory requirement would be to have 3D CAD/CAM knowledge, wire EDM & CNC programming from solid models

IT System Administrator

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring that customer needs are satisfied through administering and configuring business critical systems. Meets applicable project schedules while ensuring overall system integrity. Maintains ownership of 1 or more systems and is accountable for the implementation of enhancements and general support those systems. Communicates regularly with business stakeholders, independently tracking and hosting meetings reporting on enhancement development, support work and may also be called on to oversee projects associated with the owned system(s). The Systems Administrator administers the operations of computer systems related to operating systems, servers, and end-user workstations. Although the Systems Administrator is not responsible for writing new application software, the administrator demonstrates an understanding of how software behaves to deploy, configure and troubleshoot systems. Additionally, the Administrator researches new technologies and leverages optimization techniques to ensure that systems operate efficiently.

  • Managing database is driven applications / Creating custom applications for in-house use where needed.
  • Planning, designing, and maintaining Reporting Applications/Business Intelligence (Business Objects, John Galt, SQL, Access, etc.)
  • Implement and maintain a systems business impact assessment to prioritize system recovery in the event of a failure and determine an order of shutdown and startup of all systems.
  • Coordinates software testing efforts to identify and resolve system integration issues.
  • Telephone system administration and technical support.
  • Ensures that critical services are accessible at all times.
  • Ensures all service and/or technical support subscriptions/licenses are current.
  • Weekend / Night backups, patching, and other process work as necessary (servers & ERP)

Purchasing/Category Manager

Location - Sterling, IL

The Category Manager will be responsible for supplier management, supplier sourcing and category management duties within assigned categories of spend. This position manages both value and risk within the supply base and ensures that supplier pricing, processes, and quality meet or exceed business requirements. Primary categories of responsibility will include cords, shaver parts, transformers, batteries, motors, PCBA and MIM blades. Secondary miscellaneous categories will be assigned as required.   

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies of assigned categories through analysis and linkage to company requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of assigned category products/markets, supplier input costs and their potential impact on company performance.
  • Regularly perform detailed analysis (exchange rates, trade compliance, industry capacity, price trending data) and other relevant information for assigned categories.
  • Provide appropriate and timely visuals for the Gemba process.
  • Develop, communicate and implement short & long-term category strategies to lower total cost of ownership and mitigate risk to the company.
  • Develop and manage a cost savings project pipeline that will deliver YOY savings to the company.

  • Effectively manage supplier selection process to meet category strategy, quality, service, cost, risk mitigation and supplier performance goals.
  • Drive the supply base to continually develop and implement process improvements and provide meaningful value to the company.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to address performance, quality and other issues with suppliers within assigned categories. Manage supplier root cause and corrective action process.
  • Manage new product development within assigned categories. Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all expectations are met for a product launch.
  • Develop and manage product transitions that effect inventories. Be pro-active in managing possible obsolescence and develop disposition plans in collaboration with all internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure stability within the supply chain and product availability at all times. Proactively communicate potential supply disruptions and contingency plans.
  • Work closely with Compliance department to ensure all suppliers within assigned categories are compliant.

The ideal person for this position has the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain operations, finance or other related to business requirements.
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ category management/purchasing experience within a strategic environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of supplier management experience.

The Design Engineer supports the New Product Development team and performs the design process by creating plans and designs to deliver new products. 

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Electrical Engineer NPE

This position is responsible for selecting, designing, qualifying and implementing electronic circuits and components for new and existing products.

Payroll Administrator

Location - Sterling, IL

This position is responsible for payroll administration and time/attendance reporting, including running weekly payroll/various reports, vacation payouts and maintaining various employee reports.

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Works closely with employees in the Human Resources department, Cell Leaders and other members of management in regard to wages/salaries, wage deductions such as garnishments/child support orders and issues in regard to absenteeism.
  • Meets multiple deadlines, in regard to payroll administration on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and must stay abreast of state and federal laws in regard to processing of compensation, such as wage deductions/garnishments, overtime eligibility, rounding, etc.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of company policies / wage classification system that effects payroll administration.
  • Corrects labor reports, time and attendance reports, tracks special deductions that run for several weeks and tracks the timing of skills matrix evaluations for wage classification increases.
  • Ensures receipt of necessary corrected information from supervisors, personnel action forms for wage/salary changes, wage information, etc. to be able to run the weekly payroll and to ensure wage adjustments are on a timely basis.
  • Prepares the weekly payroll and numerous related reports. Runs special payroll checks as requested by the Financial Accounting Manager, enters gross payroll disbursement amount to Accounts Payable, calculates, deducts and remits wage assignments according to governmental regulations.
  • Assists with the calculation of weekly Improshare (gain-sharing program), maintains/updates the employee master list and reference screen, tracks probationary period on all new employees, and maintains deduction files on employees.
  • Keeps a record of employees off work on various types of leaves of absence, maintains monthly and year-to-date attendance reports and processes daily time and attendance reports. Completes daily run of labor cards and related reports weekly, administers rate changes on all employees and enters into the computer system.
  • Communicates internally with manufacturing value stream management/ supervisors, human resources personnel and other members of the accounting department. External contacts are representatives of governmental agencies, bank personnel and legal representatives of wage deductions/garnishments.

The ideal person for this position has the following minimal requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Certification in Payroll Administration
  • 5 or more years of related experience preferred
  • Must be able to use Microsoft computer applications, have strong keyboarding and 10 key calculator skills.
  • Must be willing to learn Mapics applications and use AS400.
  • Must have effective communication and customer service skills, be detailed oriented and have a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and be capable of working with a large volume of confidential information.

Associate Packaging Engineer

Location - Sterling, IL

The Associate Packaging Engineer will assist with the design, plan, and validation for structural packaging, cost saving initiatives, and with some supervision provide technical drawings, generate standards, and provide overall technical knowledge to the production team.

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures product specification accuracy and system development and creates specification documents for packaging, testing protocol and testing.
  • Creates die-line for plastic packaging blister cards, helps create and develop sealing dies for blisters and ensures quality performance of blister sealing equipment.
  • Designs packaging, point of purchase displays and develops packaging/point of purchase prototypes.
  • Works with Industrial Engineer on work flow regarding packaging, sealing, stacking and warehousing.
  • Install and manage CAPE packaging management software which will assist in pallet maximization in warehouse and on trucks and product maximization on containers for Sterling and with Wahl Ningbo as necessary.
  • Works with U.S. and Asian packaging suppliers ensuring timely flow of packaging prototypes and increase efficiency of flow.
  • Looks for cost reduction opportunities and packaging consolidation opportunities and works to maximize case efficiencies.
  • Keeps Consumer Marketing abreast of the latest packaging technologies and participates in customer packaging and sustainability events.
  • Designs packaging as customer friendly as possible while retaining anti-theft prevention at retail level.
  • Input specifications into Salsify and ERP system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

The ideal person for this position has the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering (Packaging, Mechanical, or other similar technical Degree preferred).
  • 1-3 year experience working in the packaging or related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work closely with other packaging engineers and suppliers
  • Experience in Solidworks and or ArtiosCAD knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience working with numerous packaging Processes/materials (Corrugate, Thermoform, injection molding, etc.) preferred.
  • Packaging of electronic good industry is a plus.
  • Experience working with Tops, Cape, or other Pallet design software preferred.
