Wahl Clipper Corporation, one of the Sauk Valley area’s premier manufacturing employers, is having a Job Fair Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 8am – 5pm at Rock Falls Days Inn.  

We are now hiring full-time manufacturing workers for our second shift assembly operation; hours are 3:30 pm – 2 am. You are able to fill your application out prior to the event which will save time, but you must come to the Job Fair to complete the process.

We are looking for fast paced workers with a solid work history, above average dexterity skills and an excellent attendance record.  Drug testing and background screening will be conducted upon job offer.  High School Diploma or GED is REQUIRED.

Positions offer:

  •  $11.00 starting wage + $1.10 average piece rate + $.35 shift premium = $12.45 potential per hour for a 60 day training period. 

  • $13.05 base wage + $1.10 average piece rate + $.35 shift premium = $14.50 potential per hour after 60 days. 

  • Opportunity every 12 weeks to move up the pay scale.

  • 40-hour workweek Monday - Thursday (10 hour days). 

  • Overtime worked Fridays and some Saturdays – hours average 48-52 hours per week. 

  • Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Short Term Disability after 60 days.

Part Time Electrician

Location - Sterling, Illinois
Day shift - 29 hours a week maximum.

This position is considered Part-time and as such no additional benefits, including health insurance will be offered for the selected individual.

Repair, maintain, and install: wiring, motors, transformers, lighting, and other electrical systems as well as 24VDC and PLC troubleshooting.  Mechanical repairs, hydraulic and pneumatics as well as machine relocations and installations and troubleshooting will be part of this position.

Duties will be as followed but not limited to:

  • Install, repair, and maintain; motors, transformers, generators, lights, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Operate a variety of electrical testing equipment in locating and determining types of electrical malfunctions.

  • Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade.

  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Knowledge of electrical application for high and low voltage electric system.

  • Skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of electrical system equipment.   

  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.

  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the mechanical trade.

  • Knowledge of tools and equipment applicable to machine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.

  • Must be able to work alone as well as with others.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two (2) years of progressively responsible journey level electrical experience; OR, Completion of a federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and/or maintenance and/or two (2) years electrical experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Senior Industrial Designer – Consumer Division

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper Corporation, the world leader in cutting hair, has an exciting opportunity for a talented senior level industrial designer to join our award winning US Consumer Sales and Marketing Division at Wahl Clipper Co., in Sterling, IL.   This Senior Industrial Design will be part of a multi-disciplinary group that develops the next generation of products to help continue our record breaking sales growth.  This position is accountable for the execution of design.  In this role, it is imperative to understand needs of the consumer, the latest trends in design and ergonomics to develop world class personal care appliances.   

Job Description:
This position must meet multiple deadlines in regard to designing and sampling products for research, presentations to customers, and managing the integrity of the design through market launch.   The Senior Industrial Designer must excel at free hand design, computer aided design, and sample making.  They must have complete understanding of Lean NPD and basic engineering skills in order to work with engineering to insure manufacturability of the designs created.  This position requires great attention to detail and up-to-date knowledge of computer aided design, model making, and design technique to enhance the performance of the duties.

This position requires the ability to meet aggressive deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, consumer, and team-oriented work environment.

Cell Leader for Clipper Value Stream

Location - Sterling, Illinois, Second Shift 3:30pm - 2am

Wahl Clipper, the worldwide leading manufacturer of Clipper and Trimmers for global consumer and professional markets, is searching for a Cell Leader for our 2nd shift Clipper Value Stream.  

Hours are from 3:30pm – 2am.  

 Duties include: 

  • Carrying out the job assignments of the assigned cells to meet production schedules and maintain Kan Ban levels.  

  • Ensures that quality requirements are met in the cell.  

  • Makes and directs set-ups, diagnoses and corrects operating and set-up problems on equipment. 

  • Assists in interpreting and enforcing company policies and evaluating cell employees.  

  • Assists in production and time/attendance records for their assigned cell members.

  • Maintains machines and equipment in the cell to ensure quality, safety and production requirements are met.  

  • Must be able to lead a team in the continuous improvement of key operational metrics. 


  • Strong technical expertise 

  • Ability to supervise people.      

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic and leadership abilities. 

  • Hands-on knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is required.

Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and team-oriented individual to fill the role of Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer at Wahl Clipper Co., in Sterling, IL.  This role is responsible for architecting, expanding, implementing, supporting, operating, and maintaining Wahl Clipper Corp. global IT infrastructure of technologies and platforms supporting a complex corporate data and voice infrastructure, including hardware, software, and communications equipment.

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible and accountable for:

  • Planning, implementing, supporting, and maintaining security systems, firewalls, spam filters, malware, virus protection, and policies to provide requisite protection against viruses and other destructive or invasive software. 

  • Planning, implementing, supporting, and maintaining equipment, systems, and policies to prevent data loss, and loss of computing capability. Also responsible for business continuity plan, data back-up and disaster recovery of Wahl Clipper’s IT systems. 

  • Planning, implementing, supporting, and maintaining hardware, software and connectivity components by analyzing the functionality of infrastructure framework and designing and planning major upgrades and changes to ensure reliability and availability. 

  • Planning, implementing, supporting, and maintaining all hardware, software and infrastructure used for network, communications, server administration, server virtualization, data storage (SAN), application delivery (CITRIX), and mobile device management.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.  BS or MS in Computer Sciences preferred. 

  • 5 years relevant experience 

  • Infrastructure engineering experience; increasing levels of responsibility 

 Preferred Licenses / Certifications 

  • CISCO Certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE)

Job Description:
The Product Manager is responsible for defining, positioning, pricing, and the promotion of grooming products for the Professional Animal Division along with managing the market adoption and product life cycles. The Product Manager is “the voice of the customer” and “owns” the product and is ultimately responsible for its overall success.  This role also includes the indirect management and cooperation of others with within the Professional Animal division and group to ensure the products’ successes.
