Industrial Designer – New Product Development Team

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper Corporation, the world leader in cutting hair, has an exciting opportunity for a talented Industrial Designer to join our award winning company in Sterling, IL.   This Industrial Designer will be part of a multi-disciplinary group that develops the next generation of products to help continue our record breaking sales growth.  This position is accountable for the execution of product design and will be an integral part of our New Product Development Team.  In this role, it is imperative to understand needs of the end user and follow the latest trends in design to develop world class consumer, professional, and animal products.

Job Description:

This Industrial Designer must meet multiple deadlines in regard to creating and prototyping designs, and manage the integrity of the design through market launch.   The Industrial Designer must excel at free hand sketching, computer aided design, and building prototypes.  They must have basic engineering skills in order to ensure manufacturability of the designs created.

  • Working knowledge of human factors and ergonomics.

Tool Engineer

Materials Manager

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of consumer and professional grooming products, is looking to fill the role of Materials Manager for our Sterling, Illinois facility.  Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, this role provides Materials Management leadership to the Sterling factory and leadership to the Purchased Finished Goods Value Stream.

  • Will provide leadership to the Purchase Finished Goods value stream and support to the Sterling operations to achieve customer on-time delivery, inventory turns, and customer lead time targets.
  • Partner with the Sterling value streams to develop replenishment strategies reduce lead-times and ensure material availability.

Information Technology Project Manager

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Project Manager hoping to make a big impact on our business.   The first project would be to head up our New ERP system implementation.  This position will be based in Sterling, IL.  The IT Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that customer needs are satisfied through managing and coordinating specific informational technology and business deliverables.  Manages and/or directs Wahl Clipper Corp. project team, contract staff and third party vendors.  Responsible for planning, designing, developing, acquiring, documenting, testing, implementing, integrating, maintaining and modifying IT/business systems for the organization.  

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing complex IT/business projects consisting of cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of product from concept to post implementation.
  • Monitors the project from initiation through production, interfacing with the sponsor, stakeholders, and customers regarding initial delivery. Utilizes visual management system to monitor progress of projects.
  • Manages the development stage of the system life cycle, may include, planning, designing, developing, acquiring, documenting, testing, implementing, integrating, maintaining and modifying IT/business systems.
  • Translates information, process and workflow findings and requirements into detailed specifications for new or enhanced systems.
  • Analyze information requirements throughout the enterprise. Document information requirements and all related processes in both current and desired future state.

Director of Sourcing for North America

Location - Sterling, Illinois

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of consumer and professional grooming products, is looking to fill the role of Director of Sourcing for North America at our Sterling, Illinois facility, must be willing to relocate to the Global Headquarters.  Reporting to the VP of Global Purchasing, this position plays a key role in developing and implementing the strategy to source materials globally for North America. This role will manage annual spend ranging from $40M - $60M sourcing raw materials and finished goods domestically and internationally. 

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish a strategy to source materials globally ensuring cost savings while maintaining or improving quality
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers partnering to solve problems
  • Effectively negotiate pricing, contracts and payment terms with suppliers
  • Work closely with Marketing and New Product Development to source new or alternative materials and components
  • Work collaboratively with Operations to resolve sourcing issues
  • Assess, develop, coach and motivate to ensure a high performing team

  • Planning, implementing, supporting, and maintaining security systems, firewalls, spam filters, malware, virus protection, and policies to provide requisite protection against viruses and other destructive or invasive software.

  • Perform mechanical and electrical laboratory tests to analyze part and product designs for strength, quality, function, performance, reliability and conformance to safety approval agency specifications. This will include testing on cords, switches, electric motors, electronic controls, batteries, chargers, PCBs, injection molded parts and stampings.
  • Create detailed reports outlining the testing process and results obtained
  • Help with organizing, purchasing, and maintaining lab items and equipment

The ideal person for this position has the following minimal requirements:

  • Associate of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Basic understanding of electronic components, batteries, motors, and power supplies.
  • Above average electro-mechanical aptitude
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in a cross-functional team environment
  • Detail oriented with a strong sense of urgency and personal commitment

Experience

  • Preferred Qualifications:

This position will be based out of our world headquarters in Sterling, IL.

What would you do in this position? 

A large percentage of your time will be spent working directly with employees on benefits related information, providing excellent customer service.    The Benefits Administrator will administer and maintain benefit plans and programs for the company.  The Benefits Administrator is required to continuously update knowledge in regard to employment law, benefit administration and computer applications to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist employees with benefit enrollments and provide education related to health and life insurance, flexible spending plan, 401K and profit sharing.
  • Assist employees with claim issues working with the TPA to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the creation of communication material and tools to enhance the understanding of the company’s benefits package. Includes presenting benefits information in small and large group settings.
  • Process changes, deletions, and additions to benefit plans.
  • Track benefit plan enrollment elections using multiple HRIS enrollment software or carrier websites.
  • Communicate changes for employee deductions to Payroll.
  • Update COBRA records, payment records and retiree payment records.
  • Administer monthly payment of benefits and necessary changes to billings.
  • Perform exit interviews, analyze data, and process termination paperwork.
  • Manage the service awards program working directly with vendors, coordinating employee selection and dispersing of gifts. Assist with the annual awards banquet planning and setup.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for change to internal processes to increase efficiency.
  • Complete confidentiality in regards to wages, benefits, retirement, hiring and termination is a must.

The ideal person for this position has the following minimal requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Business or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in human resources, insurance, banking or related field requiring the handling of confidential information in a professional environment
  • Ability to handle conflict and resolve issues in a professional manner
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must have knowledge of, or ability to learn, information pertaining to federal laws to Benefits Administration and COBRA
  • Strong proficiency of Microsoft Office applications
